Bronze for mens duo at Vietnams intl table tennis event
The Vietnamese mens doubles team won a bronze medal Saturday at the Golden Racquet Table Tennis Championship in HCMC with hopes now turning to singles competition at the events conclusion on Sunday.
The Vietnamese mens duo, Tran Quan Quynh and Nguyen Nam Hai, garnered a series of victories over Malaysia, Australia, India, and China to advance to semifinal game with the Republic of Korea contenders, Kim Nam Soo and Lim Young Jun.
However, this was as far as Quynh and Hai advanced as they were beaten to 3-0 Saturday earning a bronze medal.
Earlier, Vietnams womens doubles and the mixed doubles team had been eliminated.
Vietnam now hopes for victories in the mens and womens singles events on Sunday.
About 110 athletes from nine countries partook in the event from July 12-16 at Phan Dinh Phung sports center in District 1.
