Giant potatoes unearthed in Vietnam Mekong Delta
Three gigantic sweet potatoes weighing almost 30kg were dug up Wednesday in a small garden near a house in Long Xuyen city of An Giang Mekong Delta province.
House owner Nguyen Thi Tu, residing at No. 43 in Binh Long 3 quarter, said she discovered the three colossal taters in her garden following a heavy rain that washed away the top layer of ground and left them lying open.
Some eight months ago, the woman said she had bought potato creepers to use their leaves as vegetables, and planted the stems in the garden.
She said she had completely forgotten about them, and had not watered or put down fertilizer in the area, but the three potatoes still weighed in at a hefty 11.6kg, 10.5kg and the smallest one at 7kg.
