HCMC new policy allows air travelers to undergo customs quickly

Airport and customs officials have collaborated as of Sept. 1 to allow travelers declaring customs to go through procedures quicker at Tan Son Nhat International Airport of Ho Chi Minh City, said officials.

Recently, the Southern Airport Complex, the General Department of Vietnam Customs, Immigration Control and Tan Son Nhat Customs Service have cooperated to set a new and quick procedure to help travelers avoid lengthy customs declaration procedures as requested by the HCMC Peoples Committee.

Customs procedures will only take travelers at most 10 minutes and as quickly as two minutes during certain times of the day, said Lam Toan, chief of Tan Son Nhat Customs Service.

Mr. Toan said that the customs service had submitted a petition to the General Department of Vietnam Customs suggesting more simplification of the procedure to declare customs.
