Homegrown jazz band to swing in Ho Chi Minh City
Hanois most popular local jazz band, Song Hong (Red River), is set to play Ho Chi Minh City on Friday evening at the Vertu Jazz Concert.
The sextet including Nguyen Bao Long, Quyen Thien Dac, Nguyen Tien Manh, Dao Minh Fa, Ha Dinh Huy, and Pham Duc Duy will play old favorites from popular composers as well as their own originals.
Since their inception in 1996, Song Hong has enjoyed several opportunities to take part in master workshops organized by the Hanoi Conservatory, which have allowed them to learn from famous jazz groups from around the world.
The group has performed at a wealth of international shows, including the 2000 Singapore Tour, the 2nd Annual European Union Jazz Festival in 2003 and the Jazz Festival for Peace in 2006.
Organized by the Hanoi Conservatory, the media and events company TAF and the FPT Distribution Company, the bands concert will take place at the HCMC Theatre.
