VFF verifying footballers, officials for season 2006
Vietnam Football Federation is now carrying out verification of status of all footballers, coaches, and clubs officials to prepare for football season 2006, to start in a week.
Duong Nghiep Khoi, VFF vice chairman and competition department manager, confirmed the VFF pledged to have tight management from season 2006, especially on footballers morals and discipline matters.
All those who are confirmed by police of their involvement in fraud, match fixing, or bribing will definitely crossed out, Khoi said.
Meanwhile, VFF chairman Nguyen Trong Hy said he will work with two V-League clubs Song Lam Nghe An (SLNA) and Mitsustar Haier Hai Phong (HP) to have their reports on match fixing allegations against them in previous seasons. Later, the VFF will announce penalties against the club before V-League 2006 in mid January.
Hy refused to reveal which penalties the two clubs above may have to suffer.
HP coach Dinh The Nam has been alleged of bribing referee Le Van Tu VND5 million (USD315) and SLNA coach Nguyen Huu Thang alleged of spending hundreds of million of Vietnamese dongs for bribing other clubs footballers and referees since years ago.
The VFF also added any team who is confirmed of having committed frauds when V-League 2006 is running will also receive similar punishments as others did.
Nguyen Huu Thang was officially sacked from SLNA head coach post and replaced by Nguyen Quang Hai, vice coach of U15 team of the club. The decision is of valid as of Friday, January 6.
