Vietnam chess champ trains in Hungary

After winning a gold medal in the male U-14 event at the World Youth Chess Championship this week, Vietnamese champion Le Quang Liem has flown to Hungary July 29 to attend an advanced chess training course.

The Sports Department in Ho Chi Minh City made the suggestion to the sports ministry to send Quang Liem to Hungary for further training to prepare for the November Sea Games, said Nguyen Phuoc Trung, chief of departments chess council.

Besides training, the athlete along with his two teammates international grandmaster Nguyen Ngoc Truong Son and master Hoang Bao Tram will also compete in another prestigious chess contest, the First Saturday, in Hungary.

The official added that the city was honored with the achievements of Quang Liem.
