Vietnam southern island links to mainland via Internet cable

Phu Quoc Island is now linked up to Rach Gia town on the mainland via an internet cable, announced the Peoples Committee of Kien Giang province Tuesday.

The Internet line was put into use Feb. 28 enabling communications and teleconferencing, saving travel expenses for officials, said Mr. Lam Quang Chanh, Deputy Chief of the Provincial People’s Committee Secretariat.

The provincial Peoples Committee Office and Phu Quocs Peoples council office is responsible for registering users for the direct connection.

Phu Quoc is 45 km from the mainland and 120 km from Rach Gia town.
