Vietnamese conductor returns home, to make debut

A 25-year-old Vietnamese conductor, who studied music in Russia on a state scholarship, will lead a symphony orchestra in a concert in Ho Chi Minh City August 18, becoming his countrys youngest ever.

Nguyen Anh Son, born in a family dedicated to art, went to Russia to study at the prestigious Tchaikovsky Conservatory of Music in 2001.

He graduated from the faculty of symphony orchestra and returned to Vietnam two months ago.

He made his debut as a conductor with the Tchaikovsky Conservatory Symphony Orchestra in March this year.

In the forthcoming performance at the municipal theatre, themed Autumn Melody, he will direct Vietnamese artists in playing the fantasia Utyos composed by Russian great Rachmaninov.
