Vinaphone to compensate callers for network crash

Vietnams largest mobile phone network Vinaphone has promised to pay compensation to users who were unable to make calls during the recent Lunar New Year holidays due to a network crash.

All users will receive compensation if they were unable to make calls between Feb. 8 and 10, said Pham Quang Hao, deputy director of Vietnam Telecoms Service Company (GPC), which operates the Vinaphone network.

Specifically, post-paid callers who pay monthly subscription fees of 80,000 VND will be entitled to the maximum compensation of nearly 9,000 VND for all three days.

As for callers who pay daily subscription fees, the compensation rate is 2,000 VND per day.

Meanwhile, VinaText and VinaCard users will have their usage period extended.

Vinaphone has yet to issue an official reason for the network overload during the Lunar New Year holidays.
